About : The History and Student Activities of NIT Calicut

Formerly known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC). NIT Calicut is one of the twenty National Institutes of Technology. NIT Calicut is among the few institutions in India to have a Supercomputer.

NIT Calicut holds two major annual events, the techno-management festival Tathva, held in the monsoon semester and the cultural festival RAGAM, which is held in the winter semester.

Admission Process, Minimum Qualifications and Reservation

As of 2007, the institute has an intake of 570 students for its undergraduate programs. Students taken in for the undergraduate courses should have written the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) conducted by CBSE, New Delhi.

Admission to the graduate M.Tech and PhD courses are primarily based on scores in the GATE exam, conducted by the IITs.

Admission to the MCA programme is done through the NIMCET conducted by the NITs.

NIT C also confers Ph.D. in all Engineering and Science disciplines.
